We came back a little earlier this year and we were able to attend the Diamondbacks final regular season game and then a week later go to the playoff game against the Dodgers. We lost the game but had a great time with our friend Gloria. The pedi cab ride from the parking lot was just one of the fun things we did.
I again bought a season ticket for the Arizona Fall League and we have been joined by our friends Gloria and my racing buddy Gene and his wife Ruby at many of the games. We drove over to Mesa for an Arizona Fall League tradition, the Hitting Challenge, a competition where the players get points for hitting the ball into different targets. Before the game we ate at Organ Stop Pizza. It is not your ordinary pizza joint. They have the worlds largest Wurlitzer Organ and as you eat you are entertained by the magnificent sounds of the organ.
We also bought a five game ticket for hockey this year. It is very weird going from 95 degrees outside to the 50 degrees inside the arena. Josie takes about all of the winter clothing she has when she goes to the games.
Josie and her friends Gloria and Terri took a trip over to the new Phoenix Aquarium and they have many more trips planned in the coming months.
I have been playing a lot of golf and have also been able to get in a few days at the races. My brother did not come out this year for the races so I did not get to as many as in years past. Josie traveled over to the the east side of the valley so I could attend two nights of races. I lured her into going with me by bribing her with a chance to shop at the Mesa Market which has over 1500 stalls. I do believe we walked over two miles while we were there.
Josie is again working out at the Y a few days a week and playing a lot of Mah Jongg.
We were finally able to get the RV windshield replaced after catching a rock back in Colorado, and we had the Journey washed and waxed after a summer on the road.
This year we will not stay in Arizona for the entire season. After Christmas, we will join our friends from Chicago, Jim and Darleen, on the Rio Grande border in Texas.
