Desert Living

We are now into our second week here in Phoenix. Desert Shadows is a lot different than River Bend.  In Texas we had a nice large grassy site but here in Arizona we are parked between what they call Park Models. Like mobile homes without wheels. The place is very clean and everyone is very nice but the place is a little dated. Since this Park has been here so long the plantings are well established. Below are pictures of a Saguaro Cactus on the corner from us and a Cocktail tree across from us. It is called that because they have grafted an orange and grapefruit tree together and it has both on it. Our neighbors are good sharers and we have fruit for breakfast every day.  We are right in the middle of the city here so everything is very close, we like that but the traffic is just like any other big city this size, horrible at rush hour. We got caught in a huge jam coming back from a baseball game in Tempe. We have been to four games so far and also hit the horse track which is only two miles away. Lost $40. We took a day trip up to Sedona on Tuesday and stopped at Montezuma's Castle National Monument on the way. Sedona is beautiful from a distance but it is way over developed and very crowded. I have also been able to play golf at two great golf courses close by. The weather is great, warm each day 78  to 82 or so  with a nice breeze and into the 50s at night. We sit outside a lot , Jo has been using the crockpot outside under the awning  it is so nice.  Of course in a few months it will be in the 100's, but we will be long gone by then

Come on Terry. It's been 2 weeks since that last blog. You're retired now. What else do you have to do. Let's hear about spring training and Arizona.

You guys have covered a lot of territory in 6 mo. Looks to me you're having too much fun! Nancy Crocker Richardson passed away at 83.
The gang is playing Lake Wright tomorrow before it closes at the end of summer. I watched all 3 UVA vs Maryland games. Go 'Hoos". Thanks for sharing.
