Today marks the 6th anniversary of our move into the motorhome. We are now in Phoenix Arizona. The drive from Texas took us 5 days but we stopped one day to re-visit Carlsbad Caverns. We had to stop at two border patrol checkpoints, one in Texas and another in New Mexico. They ask if you are a citizen of the US and while they are doing that the drug sniffing dog runs around your vehicle. The caverns were even better the second visit. We took a tour of a few rooms that are not on the general public tour and ended up spending 5 hours under ground (850') after walking down from the top. My pictures cannot do it justice. If you are ever in the area you must make this one of your stops. The afternoon of our fourth days drive from Carlsbad to Benson was a tough one. The wind and blowing dust and buffeting us for over two hundred miles. We were dodging dust devils the whole way. Dust devils are like small tornados. Jo was able to snap a picture of one while we were driving through a road construction zone. We have a lot planned while we spend a month here in Phoenix and are looking forward to having Scott and Cathy and Aaron visit us the last week of our stay.
